Manchester, Ct. 2nd alarm 9/11/14

Manchester, Ct. responded to 54 Chestnut St. on 9/11/14 @0021 hours for a report of a smoke coming from the apartment. On arrival members had smoke from a 1st floor apartment with fire involving the rear porches on all floors. of this large 4 story building. Upon entering the apartment from the rear (front apartment door was blocked) and knocking down the fire members had ammunition starting to go off and backed out. When they were able to re-enter they discovered that this was a fatal fire. NFI at this time. Mutual aid from the 8th District FD and East Hartford assisted at the scene.
